"Reuse" and "Recycle" are two pillars of the green philosophy at the Brass Knob Architectural Antiques. Since 1981, owner Donetta George has stocked the store with architectural antiques and vintage decorative house parts, which customers have then used in restorations, renovations, and new construction. The Brass Knob provides a fanciful menagerie of authentic antique and vintage hardware, restored lighting, mantels, stained glass, and a variety of decorative items throughout an historic Adams Morgan townhouse. These parts go on to find new life in both private homes and public settings: An iron grate becomes a tabletop in a living room; a grand chandelier takes the place of honor in a theater lobby; the potential is endless. One-of-a-kind items date mainly from 1870 to 1940. They are mostly American, and many come directly from the DC area. From the signature doorknobs to huge decorative columns, these vintage wares cover every scale and price point, and the inventory is constantly changing. Please come for a visit.
